Manny Pacquiao Inducted into International Boxing Hall of Fame

Pacquiao reflects on his journey and dedicates honor to underdogs and supporters worldwide.
Manny Pacquiao, the only eight-division world boxing champion, was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 9, 2023, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career.

The ceremony took place in Canastota, New York, where Pacquiao shared his gratitude and inspiration derived from his challenging journey in boxing.

At 46 years old, Pacquiao addressed the attendees, dedicating the honor to underdogs and those who persist against adversity.

"I dedicate this moment to every underdog, dreamer, person who keeps fighting even when the odds are against them," he stated during his acceptance speech.

He also expressed gratitude toward the Filipino people and his global fanbase for their unwavering support throughout his career.

During the induction, which featured fellow honorees including Vinny Paz, Michael Nunn, and referee Kenny Bayless, Pacquiao's wife, Jinkee, was present, supporting him as he delivered his speech reflecting on his humble beginnings in General Santos City, Philippines.

He recounted his ascent in professional boxing, noting notable victories against famous opponents such as Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Ricky Hatton.

Pacquiao remarked on boxing's transformative impact on his life, saying, "Boxing gave me a way out; it turned my struggles into strength, my failures into lessons, and my pain into purpose, from flyweight to middleweight, eight divisions.

Every fight, every victory was a step further from poverty.

It was not just for me but for my family, for the Filipino people."

Looking ahead, Pacquiao is set to face American boxer Mario Barrios (29-2-1) for the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title in July at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

His professional record stands at 62 wins, 8 losses, and 2 draws, further solidifying his status as one of boxing's all-time greats.
