CIAP-PDCB and PAES Sign Agreement to Enhance Engineering Education in the Philippines

CIAP-PDCB and PAES Sign Agreement to Enhance Engineering Education in the Philippines

Partnership aims to integrate industry-standard contract practices into engineering curricula across member schools.
On June 3, 2025, in Makati City, the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP), through its implementing body, the Philippine Domestic Construction Board (PDCB), and the Philippine Association of Engineering Schools (PAES) formalized a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This agreement seeks to enhance engineering education in the Philippines by incorporating industry-standard construction contract practices into academic curricula.

The signing ceremony was led by PDCB Executive Director Doris U. Gacho and PAES President Dr. Romano Q. Neyra, who emphasized the significance of this collaboration.

The MOU outlines a commitment to the integration of CIAP Document 102, which consists of the Uniform General Conditions of Contract for Private Construction, into the syllabi of engineering programs across PAES member schools.

The initiative is designed to provide future engineers with essential knowledge in construction contract management, project implementation standards, and risk management.

To facilitate this, PDCB will conduct training sessions targeted at deans and faculty members of PAES member institutions.

These sessions will focus on critical topics related to construction contracts and CIAP Document 102.

By equipping educators with this knowledge, they will be able to create relevant course modules that reflect current industry practices.

In conjunction with the training, PAES will actively promote the adoption of the updated curricula among its member schools and will provide ongoing feedback regarding its implementation and any resultant impacts.

This aspect of the partnership underscores a commitment to iterative improvement in the educational framework.

The collaboration also aims to connect newer engineering institutions with more established academic bodies, fostering an equitable advancement of engineering education throughout the country.

The CIAP-PDCB and PAES partnership is envisioned as a model for how academia can effectively collaborate with government entities to support national objectives in infrastructure development and educational improvement.
