Arrests and Shootouts in Recent Philippine Crime Incidents

Arrests and Shootouts in Recent Philippine Crime Incidents

Recent police actions result in arrests and confrontations linked to robbery, attempted homicide, and murder.
Two male suspects were arrested by the Malabon City Police for attempting to rob and shoot an Indian national.

The suspects, aged 25 and 32, both residents of Barangay Maysilo in Malabon City, were positively identified by an e-trike driver during a press conference at the Northern Police District (NPD) attended by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief PMGen. Anthony Aberin.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 1:19 PM in Barangay Tugatog, where the suspects followed the 36-year-old victim from Sangandaan in Caloocan to his residence.

Upon entering the victim's home, a confrontation ensued, during which one suspect stabbed the victim while the other shot at him.

Following the attack, the suspects fled the scene, and the victim was transported to Manila Central University Hospital.

Malabon City Police Chief PCol Jay Baybayan confirmed that a manhunt was quickly initiated, aided by CCTV footage which led to the suspects' capture.

They are now facing charges of Attempted Robbery and Frustrated Homicide, under Section 9 of Republic Act 11235, known as the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act, and will undergo inquest proceedings at the Malabon City Prosecutor's Office.

In another incident, a man wanted for rape was killed during a police operation in Barangay Pogo, Nagtipunan in Quirino.

Identified only by the alias 'Ben', the suspect was ranked as the sixth most wanted criminal in the province.

According to Quirino Police Director P/Col. Paul Gamido, the dragnet operation aimed to apprehend the suspect under an e-warrant.

However, as police operatives approached the location, the suspect opened fire, which escalated into a shootout.

After several minutes, the suspect was found dead at the scene, with a recovered .45 caliber pistol and a grenade.

No injuries were reported among the police personnel involved.

In a separate case, Thong Mamasalanao Asim, a 56-year-old municipal councilor from Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur, was fatally shot outside his home following his re-election.

The incident, confirmed by the Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police Office and the Police Regional Office for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, raises concerns about potential political motives behind the attack, which is under active investigation.

A 40-year-old woman, known as 'Anna', died from stab wounds inflicted by her live-in partner 'Ian' on a roadside in Sariaya, Quezon.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred after the couple had a heated argument, resulting in the suspect attacking Anna from behind before fleeing on a motorcycle.

Despite being rushed to a hospital, the victim was declared dead on arrival.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the motive for the attack, with efforts to locate the suspect underway.

House Assistant Majority Leader and Cavite 8th District Representative Aniela Tolentino has urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to expedite the arrest of individuals responsible for the murder of Shackie Denajiba, a campaign leader in Naic, Cavite.

Denajiba was shot dead in front of his home shortly after the recent mid-term elections.

Family members are questioning the retention of Naic's police chief, P/Lt. Col. Resty Soriano, following the violent crime, which they believe could be linked to the recent electoral process.

Tolentino has called on the provincial police command to ensure the case does not become cold, emphasizing the need for swift action to uphold public safety.
