Ang mga kamakailang pagpupulong at economic forecasts ay naglalantad ng mga nangyayari sa relasyon ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos, pati na rin ang lokal na kalagayan ng ekonomiya.

Ipinahayag ni Teodoro ang suporta sa mga naganap na pag-uusap sa U.S.-ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting, kung saan pinuri niya ang administrasyong Trump para sa kanilang dedikasyon sa ugnayan sa pagitan ng ASEAN at Indo-Pacific.

Hinangaan ni Hegseth ang mga nakaraang Balikatan exercises na ginanap noong Abril, na nagdala ng higit sa 14,000 sundalo mula sa parehong bansa upang mapatibay ang kanilang militar na koordinasyon.

Sinabi ng dalawang opisyal na mahalaga ang tuloy-tuloy na kooperasyong pangdepensa sa harap ng nagbabagong kalagayan ng seguridad sa rehiyon.

Sa parehong panahon, naipakita ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) na ang balanse ng kaltrade ng bansa ay humina sa $3.49 bilyon noong Abril, 26 porsiyento na mas mababa kaysa sa $4.73 bilyong kakulangan sa parehong buwan ng nakaraang taon.

Habang ang mga imports naman ay bumaba ng 7.2 porsiyento, umabot sa $10.24 bilyon mula sa nakaraang taon, na ang pangunahing pagbaba ay mula sa mineral fuels at metal scrap.
