Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Seizes Over P1 Billion in Illegal Drugs

Recent operations lead to substantial drug confiscations and arrests of numerous individuals involved in drug trafficking.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) announced the seizure of illegal drugs valued at over P1 billion during operations conducted from May 23 to May 30, 2025. Under the leadership of PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez, the agency executed 63 anti-drug operations across the country, targeting both large and small drug syndicates as well as individual drug dealers and clandestine drug dens.

A total of 91 individuals associated with drug activities were apprehended, including drug pushers, clients of drug dens, and other participants in the drug trade.

Among the confiscated items were 156,407.80 grams of shabu, 80.94 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 5,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks, and 61,662 marijuana plants, collectively valued at approximately P1.08 billion.

Director Nerez reaffirmed the agency's commitment to combat illegal drugs, emphasizing the PDEA's role in safeguarding the Filipino populace against the detrimental effects of drug abuse on society.

In a separate incident, a Vietnamese national, known as alias 'Duc', was arrested by the Pasay City Police for frustrated homicide in Taguig City.

Duc, age 30, was apprehended based on a warrant issued by the Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 297 on May 21, 2025. He faces a bail recommendation of P72,000 for temporary liberty.

The case arose from an altercation involving Duc and another Vietnamese national at a restaurant in Pasay City.

Duc, who has resided in the Philippines for over two years, claims to be a victim of the altercation and is currently detained at the Pasay City Jail.

Furthermore, a woman, identified only as alias 'Maria', was arrested in Cabuyao City for allegedly engaging in illegal recruitment.

Authorities conducted an entrapment operation after receiving multiple complaints from over 30 individuals seeking employment in factories in Taiwan.

Major Adrian Nalua, officer of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Laguna, confirmed that Maria was acting on behalf of JS Contractor Incorporated, which purportedly operates without the necessary recruitment license as mandated by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.

Maria was arrested while allegedly collecting a processing fee from a complainant.

She faces charges of large-scale illegal recruitment, fraud, and violations of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

In a tragic accident, one person died and two others were injured when their tricycle collided with a wing van truck on Maharlika Highway in Barangay Ubaliw, Polangui, Albay, on a recent Saturday.

Dashcam footage captured the moment the tricycle first struck a car before losing control and crashing into the truck around 5:10 PM. The back rider of the tricycle was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while the driver and another passenger sustained injuries.

The truck overturned as a result of the collision, and authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
