Lala Sotto-Antonio has submitted her letter of resignation as Chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on May 23, 2025. The resignation, which was formally accepted by the Office of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., comes in accordance with a directive from President Marcos for all cabinet members and agency heads to tender courtesy resignations.

In her resignation letter addressed to Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, Sotto-Antonio expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve under the Marcos administration and lead the MTRCB in fulfilling its mandate of reviewing and classifying motion pictures.

She highlighted the importance of ensuring that content remains suitable and age-appropriate for Filipino audiences, particularly children.

Appointed by President Marcos on July 7, 2022, Sotto-Antonio has notably advocated for responsible content regulation and media literacy initiatives.

Her leadership saw the implementation of programs such as the 'Responsableng Panonood' campaign and modernized the agency's classification systems to adapt to the evolving media landscape.

Throughout her tenure, Sotto-Antonio represented the Philippines at various international forums, including the Annual Conference of the International Institute of Communication in Bangkok, the Latin America and Caribbean Annual Asia Digital Communications Media Forum in Seoul, and served as a resource speaker at the Miami Media Summit in 2023.

Under her guidance, the MTRCB processed over 267,002 materials, receiving commendations for its performance metrics and fostering collaborations with global co-regulatory bodies.

This effort has reaffirmed the agency's commitment to protecting Filipino viewers, especially children and families, from potentially harmful content.
