The Gilas Pilipinas Boys basketball team achieved a significant victory against Indonesia, defeating them 77-68 in a highly competitive match during the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA qualifiers held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga on May 28. This matchup featured two unbeaten teams vying for supremacy in the tournament.

The game presented the Gilas Boys with their first substantial challenge of the event, as Indonesia delivered a strong performance that kept the contest close throughout.

The Philippines held a comfortable lead for much of the game, yet Indonesia managed to trim the Gilas lead to just four points, at 61-65, with 4:38 remaining on the clock.

In response to Indonesia's push, Everaign Cruz hit a crucial three-pointer from the left wing, helping to stabilize Gilas’s position.

Following this, Gab Delos Reyes executed an impressive spin move for a layup, and Prince Carino added a putback to extend the lead back to ten points at 72-61.

Delos Reyes proved to be a pivotal player for the Gilas Boys, contributing 10 points, along with 13 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.

Carino led the scoring for the team with 15 points, while teammates Travis Pascual and Jolo Pascual scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Cruz rounded out the scoring with 10 points.

On the opposing side, Benjamin Piet Hermusi was a standout for Indonesia, contributing 23 points to their effort.

With this victory, Gilas improved their tournament record to a perfect 4-0, while Indonesia’s record fell to 3-1. Thailand, following their win over Vietnam, stands at 2-2, and shares the same record with Malaysia, who secured a victory against Singapore, 78-55.
