Petitioners retract signatures, alleging forgery in complaint against Governor Ramil Hernandez and Representative Ruth Hernandez.
A disqualification case filed against Ramil Hernandez, the Governor of Laguna, and his wife Ruth Hernandez, who serves as the Second District Representative, has been officially withdrawn after allegations of forgery surfaced.
The complaint, which was submitted to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on May 2, 2025, was purportedly supported by signatures from four individuals: Ma. Lanites Greganda, Darren John Cantalejo, Alena Nicole Dequillo, and Niño Greganda.
These individuals have since retracted their involvement, asserting that they were unaware their names were used in the petition.
Their attorney, Kenneth Beo, confirmed that the signatures on the document were forged.
The petitioners only became aware of the disqualification case after seeing it reported on a local media
Facebook page.
The original disqualification petition, dated April 30, 2025, raised concerns about the legitimacy of the electoral candidacies of the Hernandez couple, as they are both running for office in the upcoming elections—Ramil Hernandez for re-election and Ruth Hernandez for the gubernatorial position in the province of Laguna.
Speculation has arisen regarding the motivations behind the filing of the disqualification case, with Beo suggesting that political rivals of the Hernandez couple might be behind the petition.
As the situation unfolds, the implications for both the Hernandez political campaign and the alleged forgery remain under scrutiny.
