Commission on Elections Proclaims Winning Senators in 2025 Midterm Elections

Twelve candidates officially confirmed as the newly elected senators following the midterm elections held on May 12, 2025.
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) officially proclaimed the twelve winning senators from the May 12, 2025 national and local elections during a ceremony held at The Manila Hotel on May 17, 2025. This announcement follows the completion of the National Certificate of Canvass (NCOC) and the resolution from the National Board of Canvassers.

Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia confirmed the elected candidates, stating, "by virtue of the power vested in it under the 1987 Constitution, Omnibus Election Code, and other election laws, the Commission on Elections hereby declares” the newly elected senators.

The twelve senators will serve a six-year term from June 30, 2025, to June 30, 2031.

The prominent figures among the winners include Bong Go, who topped the senatorial race with 27,121,073 votes, followed by Bam Aquino with 20,971,899 votes, and Bato Dela Rosa who secured 20,773,946 votes.

The complete list of elected senators is as follows:

Bong Go (PDP-Laban) – 27,121,073 votes (6.33%)
Bam Aquino (KNP) – 20,971,899 votes (4.89%)
Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa (PDP-Laban) – 20,773,946 votes (4.85%)
Erwin Tulfo (Lakas) – 17,118,881 votes (4.00%)
Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan (Liberal Party) – 15,343,229 votes (3.58%)
Rodante Marcoleta (Independent) – 15,250,723 votes (3.56%)
Ping Lacson (Independent) – 15,106,111 votes (3.53%)
Tito Sotto (NPC) – 14,832,996 votes (3.46%)
Pia Cayetano (Nacionalista Party) – 14,573,430 votes (3.40%)
Camille Villar (Nacionalista Party) – 13,651,274 votes (3.19%)
Lito Lapid (NPC) – 13,394,102 votes (3.13%)
Imee Marcos (Nacionalista Party) – 13,339,227 votes (3.11%)
Notably, Kiko Pangilinan was absent during the proclamation due to attendance at his daughter’s graduation in the United States.

Each winning senator had the opportunity to give remarks following their proclamation, where many expressed gratitude to their supporters and detailed their future legislative goals.

Senator-elect Imee Marcos emphasized her appreciation for the support of former President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte during her address.

In contrast, her absence of acknowledgment for her brother, President Bongbong Marcos, created significant commentary.

Meanwhile, Bong Go concluded the ceremony with a commitment to continue his advocacy for health-related initiatives.

The overall voter turnout for the elections was reported at 82.2%, with approximately 57.3 million voters participating out of 69.6 million registered voters.

Garcia highlighted this turnout as historic, noting it as the highest for a midterm election in the Philippines.

Additionally, the forthcoming Senate session is anticipated to address critical legislative issues, with upcoming impeachment proceedings for Vice President Sara Duterte scheduled for July 30, 2025, raising the stakes for the newly elected senators as they approach their term.

The elected senators represent a coalition that includes five candidates affiliated with the ruling administration of President Bongbong Marcos, five aligned with former President Duterte, and two from the opposition.

Garcia's invitation for the newly elected officials to assist in election reforms highlights the urgency for legislative support in enhancing the electoral process moving forward.
