Two individuals, Wenli Gong and Wu Ja Ping, were apprehended on May 18 at a high-end resort in Boracay, Aklan, in connection with the kidnapping and murder of businessman Anson Que and his driver, Armanie Pabillo.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil confirmed the arrests, stating that Gong, also known as Kelly Tan Lim, is considered the mastermind behind the operation.

She was reportedly a key negotiator in the ransom discussions that involved an estimated P200 million.

Authorities had previously placed a bounty of P5 million for information leading to her capture.

The law enforcement operation that led to their arrests involved joint teams from the police and military, who situated the suspects in their resort accommodations around 1:54 PM. Sources indicated that Gong had direct control over the e-wallets used in the ransom transactions and had previously lured Que and Pabillo to a safehouse in Meycauayan, Bulacan, where they were held captive and subsequently killed.

According to reports, the remains of Que and Pabillo were later found in Rodriguez, Rizal.

Investigations into the case revealed that three suspects were allegedly involved in orchestrating the crime, with a previous suspect, David Tan Liao, having surrendered to authorities following the apprehension of two Filipino accomplices.

PNP Chief Marbil has mentioned that law enforcement is actively seeking additional suspects in this case as the investigation develops.
