Survivors of Air India Flight 171 Crash Share Remarkable Stories

A Thai singer reveals a shared seat number with the sole survivor of the recent air disaster.
On June 12, 2025, Air India Flight 171 tragically crashed, resulting in the deaths of 241 crew members and passengers.

The incident has drawn significant attention following revelations regarding Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national who was the sole survivor of the crash.

Ramesh was seated in seat 11A, located near an emergency exit, which played a crucial role in his survival.

In an account of the harrowing events, Ramesh recounted the moments leading up to the crash, describing how he was thrown from the aircraft before it exploded.

"It all happened so quickly.

When I got up, there were bodies all around me.

I was scared.

I stood up and ran.

There were pieces of the plane all around me," he stated.

Ramesh highlighted that the section of the aircraft he occupied landed on the ground, allowing him to escape when his door broke.

He noted that the opposite side of the plane was obstructed, indicating that others would not have had the same opportunity to exit safely.

In his reflections, Ramesh expressed gratitude for the assistance he received after managing to escape, as another individual helped him into an ambulance for medical treatment.

Adding to the narrative of survival, Thai singer Ruangsak James Loychusak revealed that he too was seated in 11A during a plane crash in 1998 involving Thai Airways Flight TG261, which also resulted in a significant loss of life.

Loychusak expressed his shock upon learning that he shared the same seat number with Ramesh, the survivor of the recent tragedy.

He recalled the traumatic experience of the 1998 incident, where his flight fell into a swamp, and reflected on the connection to Ramesh's story.

"Survivor of a plane crash in India.

He sat in the same seat as me.

11A.

My condolences to all those who lost," Loychusak stated.

Additionally, he mentioned feeling that there may be something unique about seat 11A, as it has been associated with both their survival experiences.

The recent crash has reignited conversations about aviation safety and emergency preparedness, particularly in relation to passenger seating positions during emergencies.

Support services for the victims’ families and survivors are currently being organized in light of the tragedy.
